The Lands Beyond. Imagination Beyond the Classroom.

Abstract:

According to Plato, the most effective kind of education is that a child should play among lovely things. Play is essential in a child's development and learning. A child will learn better and more effectively when he is engaged in meaningful play. This paper looked into the design and development of “The Lands Beyond” (TLB) as an instructional board game and evaluated its effectiveness by testing the prototype with a group of elementary-aged students (first to sixth graders). Several recommendations are made to improve TLB that educators might also consider using to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom.
